Evaluation Example

The Need: An anti-poverty organization needed a better understanding of their programs’ effectiveness, and how staff time was being used. Program staff and managers needed better measures of program outcomes, and wanted data that could ensure they worked most efficiently and met their grant obligations.

How we helped: MGA helped managers to design systems that met the program staff’s needs first and foremost. We created simple and streamlined goals, monthly reports and data collection methods that fit easily into the staff’s daily responsibilities. By avoiding the creation of yet another layer of work, we maximized the likelihood that the system would generate accurate, useful and complete information.

The Results: Line staff, program managers and senior management each have more of the information they need to do their job. The organization has been able to better measure outcomes, adjust its approach where programs struggled, identify opportunities for new program innovations, and report back to funders with better outcome information than ever before.
