Julia’s Work History

Prior to becoming a Principal at Mendelsohn, Gittleman & Associates, Julia held the following positions of note:

1986-1997: Crittenton Hastings House, Boston MA

Chief Program Officer/Vice President of Programs (1996-1997)

  • Provided leadership, direction and oversight to all programs of Crittenton Hastings House. Responsibilities included (but were not limited to) program development; implementation and management; program-based planning and management; staff development and supervision; and external relations.
  • Responsible for budgetary oversight and management of programs totaling $5.2 million.

Assistant Vice President of Planning, Development & Research (1992-1996)

  • Identified and managed the research and design of new program opportunities.
  • Designed, coordinated and monitored program evaluation.
  • Responsible for all grantsmanship and fundraising activities totaling $4.2 Million.
  • Coordinated all policy planning activities and monitored changes in legislation, regulation and community needs.
  • Responsible for all external relations including publications, volunteers and public relations.

Director of Education and Training (1988-1992)

  • Managerial and budgetary oversight of three distinct programs for pregnant and parenting adolescents (GED, High School, School-Based).
  • Recruited, trained and supervised staff of 20.
  • Served as liaison to school personnel and other community-based agencies.

Case Manager, Brighton High School Teen Parenting Program (1986-1988)

  • Provided case management and counseling for pregnant and parenting students

1985-1986: North End Community Health Center, Boston MA
Health Educator/Family Planning and Prenatal Counselor

  • Responsible for intake, counseling of all family planning, prenatal and gynecological patients at the health center.

1984-1985: Preterm, Inc., Brookline MA

Counselor

Counseled patients regarding abortion and birth control.
